LA Motion, the 20-member team composed of players from our LA Flag Football League, won Gay Bowl X in Phoenix on Oct. 10, 2010.
LA went 7-0 and beat the New York Warriors, 19-18, in an exciting final.
LA’s winning touchdown came on a pass from Christophe to Toby from 8 yards out with 1:40 left. The win was sealed when Demond intercepted New York’s next pass and LA ran out the clock.
The difference in the game was the 1-point PAT LA converted after its second TD. The play came from Shaun who caught the pass short of the goal and willed his way in, all on a badly injured toe.
The defense for LA was spectacular, with interceptions by Juan and Demond and constant pressure on the quarterback from the likes of Cyd, Jeremy, Brenton, Demond and ZS.
It was LA’s fourth Gay Bowl title, a record, and second in a row by one point. Demond was named offensive MVP and rookie Terrell (7 interceptions) defensive MVP. Cyd and Jim were inducted as the first two members of the National Gay Flag Football League Hall of Fame.
All the LA players started out in pickup, which is a great way for new players to test themselves and get a chance to show their skills prior to the next LA league and next year’s Gay Bowl in Houston. So we hope everyone on this list comes out to play one of these upcoming Saturdays. Congratulations to the Motion for keeping the title where it belongs — in Los Angeles.
